Google Privacy Policy Consolidation
People seem to be making more out of this privacy agreement than what it is.
- Google offers multiple services.
- Each of those services had access to the info you used on them
- Each also needed their own privacy policy
- Consolidating policies into one document and sharing the data amongst their services is just logical
They are not trying to guess what you want or need to freak you out. They want to serve you (us) better. Location based reminders are just another way to use the info they already have access from you to your advantage.
You opt in for all these services anyways when you signed up for them, why not let them use the info to assist you? If you don’t want them to know where you are don’t use location based services like gmaps on your phone, etc. MSFT, Apple and Google are all headed in that direction.
MSFT | Kinect - Voice Control / Motion Control
Apple | Siri - AI functions
Google| Location / Queries prediction based services
Personally I see it as a good thing, simple and moving forward.
Do you agree?
